ANGER MANAGEMENT | INDIVIDUAL COUPLES THERAPY AND DOMESTIC ABUSE PROGRAMME

Whether you are looking for Anger Management for yourself, your partner or your service users, this page explains the services offered at Anger Therapy London and how they are delivered.

Anger Therapy London is part of Westminster Psychotherapy Ltd, founded over 18 years ago by Leona Sears, psychologist. Since then, the practice has supported clients from all walks of life experiencing Anger Management difficulties.

Although Leona Sears originally delivered sessions in person, during the COVID-19 pandemic she introduced video-call appointments and quickly realised that clients benefited just as much as they did from face-to-face sessions. Video-call therapy has since become her preferred way of working because it saves clients time and travel costs while providing greater flexibility, particularly for those who travel or relocate during therapy.

At Anger Therapy London, Anger Management is available for individuals and couples who struggle to communicate calmly, frequently argue, or whose relationships have been affected by anger. Therapy is also available for victims of domestic abuse and clients seeking a Perpetrator of Domestic Abuse Programme.

ANGER MANAGEMENT SESSIONS AND PERPETRATOR OF DOMESTIC ABUSE SHARE MANY SIMILARITIES

General Anger Management and the Perpetrator of Domestic Abuse Programme share many similarities, but there are important differences. Both services consist of one-hour sessions, tailored to each client’s individual goals and needs. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is used alongside psychoeducation where appropriate, enabling clients to continue practising new skills between sessions.

HOW IS THE PERPETRATOR OF DOMESTIC PROGRAMME DIFFERENT FROM ANGER MANAGEMENT SESSIONS?

The Perpetrator of Domestic Abuse Programme is more structured and specifically focuses on domestic abuse, the findings made by the courts or Cafcass, and the insight required to reduce the risk of future abusive behaviour. Clients may request a progress report at the end of the programme to demonstrate the work they have undertaken and the insight they have gained. This report can assist Cafcass, solicitors and the family courts when considering whether the client has engaged in a robust programme and achieved meaningful behavioural change.
