This structured Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Programme is suitable for people accused of domestic abuse who are dealing with criminal or family court proceedings, including Child Arrangements Order applications. It is designed to help clients gain greater insight into their behaviour, reduce the risk of future abusive behaviour and work towards positive, lasting change.
The programme usually consists of 12 hours for clients with no previous criminal history. Most people in this category complete the programme within this time-frame, although some choose to continue with more sessions because they find the sessions beneficial and value the additional support during one of the most stressful periods of their lives.

Some clients may require additional sessions because of language difficulties, limited insight, or more complex circumstances. This is assessed throughout the programme. Clients with a criminal history, repeated police or social services involvement, or long-standing Anger Management difficulties often require 24 hours or more, as long-term patterns of behaviour cannot usually be addressed within 12 hours.
All sessions are delivered via secure video call, saving clients time and travel costs while allowing flexibility if they are travelling or temporarily living elsewhere.
Although every programme is tailored to your individual needs and goals, it follows a structured approach. You will receive psychoeducational material, practical exercises and guidance focused on domestic abuse, helping you develop healthier ways of thinking, improve relationships and become the best parent you can be.
At the end of the programme, you may request a detailed progress report. This provides a comprehensive summary of the work completed, your remediation, the insight you have gained and the progress achieved. All clients commonly share the progress report with Cafcass, solicitors, the family court or the criminal court. If preferred, a shorter one-page letter can also be provided but it will not be able to comment on insights and the in-depth work achieved.
Most clients complete the programme successfully. However, where progress remains superficial or further work is clinically recommended, additional sessions may be advised. The decision to continue always remains yours.
Feedback from Clients Who Have Completed the Programme ‘understanding, supportive, challenged me, my McKenzie friend said it was the best report she has read, Cafcass officer could see that I was different’
